A fire on Monday evening has left the future Seton Kingsland Clinic building, located between Ridgeview and Nob Hill Street, in ruins, completely destroying the nearly completed project.
The fire was reported shortly before 6pm on Monday night.
According to Michelle Robertson, President, CEO North Operating Group, Seton Family of Hospitals, there was only about a month left until construction on the building was to be completed, and only three months from being opened and operational.

MARBLE FALLS—Don’t worry about waiting around to see what glimmer of hope arrives out of this story, or if the quarterbacks were armed with promise, or if the receivers showed that they’re catching on. Most every aspect of Llano’s 7-on-7 game passed muster, June 12, as the Jackets and Mustangs continued a tandem summer-stock production that’s getting to be more well-known than Penn and Teller.
“They got out there and competed,” argued offensive coordinator Jarrett Vickers.

MARBLE FALLS—As the Roaring Twenties neared to a not so roaring or glorious conclusion, Herbert Hoover was in the White House on a four-year pass. Babe Ruth was in the middle of his incomparable career as a Yankee. The Golden Age of Radio—with Hope and Crosby and Benny—was approaching, along, most unfortunately with The Great Depression.
Also on the road to a much longer life was the Ford Model A, built from 1928 to 1931 to replace the 20-year-old Model T.

Many people are still unfamiliar with the concept of a 3 Dimensional Printer. Most of us are familiar with the idea of a personal printer that we hook up to our computer to print documents or pictures on paper (2 Dimensional). How can a printer produce real objects that we hold in our hand, or components that we can use to repair or build equipment?
“Llano ISD is working to make sure students are ready for the future by training students on how use 3D printing technology” says Jim Beasley, ...

Sixteen years ago, a tradition began with a single picture of the Titanic hung in the Llano Elementary cafeteria by Rosie Robinett.
Since that time, the tradition has grown to epic proportions, with the transformation of an ordinary school cafeteria into an homage to the ‘unsinkable’ Titanic.
This year marked the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the ship, and Rosie worked hard to make sure it was nothing short of spectacular.
While the annual Titanic Lu ...

On the front page of The Llano News on July 2, 1942, was a photo of the Army Air Force’s “wicked looking” AT-9 training plane from Ellington Field, near Houston, which reportedly “has all the flying characteristics of the giant bombers the graduating class at the Texas air drome will soon be piloting.”
Some of those flyers may have been from Llano, although none were named.

It’s not often you put a whole lot of stock in the sports of summer. They’re mainly for the exercise and just to stay acquainted with the athletic endeavor of the youngster’s choosing, but 7-on-7 was a solid success story for the Llano High football varsity, especially with the spread offense so close to implementation.
“We got better from the beginning,” head coach David Yeager said, “and this is what you like to see.

Goodness gracious, what’s going on here? The team, where installing the spread offense is still only a step or two beyond the rumor stage, jogged to the Marbles Falls High Field Turf, June 22, and simply put on one of the finest nights of 7-on-7 play in the 15 years or so the school has been involved in the all-passing league.
Llano got two thunderous wins, and the tie it forged may have been the best since the invention of the Windsor knot.
“There was amazing progr ...

After learning a little more about Darrell Staedtler’s accomplishments last week, I decided to look at copies of The Llano News in 1983 to see how much of a stir his Number One hit, A Fire I Can’t Put Out, made in Llano that year. For the surprising answer, read on.
The year started calmly enough.

Joe Randerson is a charter member of what Tom Brokaw so famously calls “The Greatest Generation.” You’d never guess his age if you just happened to see him riding by on his motorcycle, but he was born around 1922, and grew up during the depression on an 80-acre farm about five miles south of the capitol building (a farm long since engulfed by the spreading city of Austin.

AUSTIN--One’s been here forever, the other for not quite two years, and now both are leaving Llano High School with a convincing, role-model exit message. For their farewell assignment, they delivered outstanding performances on the grandest stage: the State Championships. Erik Forrister, on the morning of May 14, finished fourth among the best eight in Texas, in the Class-3A 3200-meter race.
