Council initiated new procedures for meetings last week, and at Monday’s City Council meeting, several people expressed their displeasure with them.
The rules, intended to make meetings run smoothly, call for a limit on the amount of time that a speaker can have the floor when addressing Council, the process for being allowed to speak in the open meetings, and so on.

For James Bond’s 87th birthday, he went up in an airplane, strapped himself to an instructor, and jumped.
“It was nothin’ to it,” Bonds said. “A rolly-coaster is much scarier!”

Fall is just around the corner (we hope!!!) and so are the Llano River Chuck Wagon Cook-off and Heritage Days Festival! The cook-off will take place on the banks of the beautiful Llano River in Badu Park, Friday, October 19 through Sunday, October 21, while everyone wanting to explore the wonders of an historic downtown and county courthouse are welcome for the festivities of the Llano Heritage Days Festival on the square.

Master Sergeant Bobby Bostick retired from the United States Army on August 31, 2012, after serving for 21 years.
His parents are Brenda and Jim Richardson of Llano, Tx, and Tommy and Ann Bostick of Midland, Tx. His grandparents are Bob and Maudean Keeler of Lovington, NM.
Bobby graduated Llano High School in 1991 and joined the army that same year.

Members of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country are to meet at the Mason Eckert Civic Center on Tuesday, September 11th at 6 PM.
The new yearbooks will be distributed and following a brief “welcome back to the arts”, by President Nan Loeffler, a short road trip will be made to Bill Worrell’s studio
and Outdoor Art Installation.

Other types of scams allow malware or viruses to infect your computer.

The Llano County Republican Club will hold their thirdquarter dinner meeting on Tuesday, September 11. The meeting begins at 6:00pm with a social time and is followed by dinner at 6:45. It is being held at the Sunrise Beach Community Center located at 124 Sunrise Drive in Sunrise Beach.

Lewis Najar, of Llano, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the age of 78. He was born on February 28, 1934 in Gillespie County to Manuel Najar and Dora (Castillo) Najar. Lewis had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and in his early years had worked in the granite industry in Fairland, Texas.
Lewis married Barbara Chatham on January 5, 1986 in Grand Prairie, Texas.
He later went to work for the City of Llano and retired as Sanitation Supervisor.

Janet Lee Hurst, 56, of Kingsland, Texas passed away Monday, August 27, 2012. She was born March 31, 1956 to Joanne (Faught) Rushing and Harold Rushing in Lamesa, Texas. Janet married Billy Don Hurst in Oahu, Hawaii in 1992. He preceded her in death in 2009; her parents also preceded her in death.

Maude “Noni” Ann Turner, 63, of Llano, TX formerly of San Saba, Texas was called home Friday, August 31, 2012. She was born September 20, 1948 to Rutha Maude (Rankin) Smith and Alfred Elmo Smith in San Saba, Texas. Ann married Edwin Parker Turner, Jr. April 6, 1968 in Fort Hood, Texas. Ann moved to Llano in 1981 and became a member of the Llano Church of Christ.

Anita Faye Voight, 70, of Llano, Texas passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was born January 1, 1942 to Clara (Light) Sullivan and Amiel Sullivan in Llano, County.
Anita was born and raised in Llano; she then moved away for a while and then made her way back to Llano and has been here for the past seven years.

It has come to my attention that there is an argument amongst two organizations in the community whose purpose is to provide a service to our community’s military service members. First off I want to thank Tommi Myers for starting the group Llano Military News Group; she had mentioned this idea to me years ago while I was on leave.

You wouldn't know it if you'd been there, but City Council meetings have devolved into a melee. Yes, swords, armor and weeklong brawls have taken over and the City just can't run roughshod over the Citizens anymore.
Evidently it's not enough to wait until the weekend to tell people what the Council is about to do.

This month, the Lakeshore Library will have Linda Wallen present “Don’t Click — It’s a Trick”.
