The 9th Annual KITY Feed The Hungry Food Drive is collecting non-perishable through December 17. Blue Christmas wrapped donation barrels are at HEB grocery stores in Kingsland, Marble Falls and Burnet, Lowe’s Market in Llano, Jamail’s in Horseshoe Bay and Tamale King in Buchanan Dam. All donated food goes to the local pantries to help local families in need.

Let Llano be aware: A King is coming to town. That’s right, right here in our humble town, an actual regal visit will occur! Just who the king is, and where he is from, no one seems to know. Our investigative reporters, Greta Van Popcorn, Eve Goodnight and Dawn Sonnenschein are on the case, however.

The City Council held a Water Wrokshop last Thursday, November 26 to discuss several different issues regarding permits, repairs and utility charges. Council discussed a prior consideration to engage the offices of Hejl, Lee & Associates to explore the possibility of amending the City of Llano’s current waste water permit to allow for the discharge of waste water effluent into the Llano River.

The Llano High basketball Jackets, from Nov. 27-Dec. 1, conquered four foes in a row, two on a neutral court, one on the road. HORSESHOE BAY—One of the great lines in maybe the first show of the legendary Mary Tyler Moore show of the 1970s was delivered by the character Lou Grant (Ed Asner) to Mary: “You’ve got spunk—I hate spunk!” Lou would really dislike Karen Aston. She has spunk and more, and Texas basketball fans won’t hate that at all.

MARBLE FALLS—Displaying a running game befitting a state champion, Mason High, on the final night in November, showed that a ground attack can overcome impressive aerial pursuits, and the Punchers galloped past Thorndale, 49-35, to advance to the Class-A, Division I quarterfinals. They’ll take a 27-game winning streak (12-0 in 2012) against Shiner.
