Llano Students Participate in 4-H Roundup

Fifteen Llano County 4-H members participated in Texas 4-H Roundup in Lubbock, June 11-14, 2012. Roundup was held on the campus of Texas Tech University.

Vance Bauer received a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship in the amount of $16,000, and Clay Tarter received a Richard Wallrath Educational Foundation in the amount of $10,000.

The Nutrition Quiz Bowl team, consisting of James Smarr, Cole Perkins, and Kathryn Price placed seventh. The Meats Judging team, consisting of Taylor Durham, Linsey Osbourn, Wes Haverlah, and Sloane Fiedler, placed fourth.

The Consumer Decision Making team, consisting of Kaitlyn Hairston, Tyler Bennett, Tim Hansen, and Kasey Hairston, placed twelfth. Jacey Smathers and James Smarr placed first with their educational presentation in the Family Life category, and Kathryn Price placed second in Share-the-Fun, vocal.

Adults accompanying the youth to Roundup were Zane and Angie Bauer; Joe Dan Tarter; Kimberly Smarr; Rick and Jodye Smathers; Jamie Osbourn; and Marilyn Hale.
