The 7th Inning Stretch - All Stars

The Llano Little League All Star Teams have been hard at it during the month of June as each age group has been competing in tournaments around the area. The machine pitch all star teams consisting of a 7 year old all star team (Llano Black) and an 8 year old all star team (Llano Orange) recently competed in the Johnson City, Fredericksburg and Llano tournaments. Both teams competed very well in each tournament with the Llano Orange finishing in 2nd place at the Llano Tournament. The Llano Minor League All Stars (9 and 10 year olds) recently competed in the District 26 Little League tournament in Kerrville, Texas and finished in 3rd place out of 11 teams. Please congratulate these boys for their efforts and hard work in representing Llano!

Machine Pitch Baseball-Johnson City Tournament-Results for Llano Black:

Llano Black: 9 vs. Lago Vista: 16

Game Summary: The seven year old all star team started the Johnson City Tournament with a disappointing loss to Lago Vista. Leading hitters for Llano were Bryce Mize who was 3 for 3 with a triple and one run scored, Rode Ligon who was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Jackson Dillard who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored.

Llano Black: 13 vs. Bulverde White: 9

Game Summary: The Llano Black rebounded from its opening loss to Lago Vista by defeating the White team from Bulverde in a loser’s bracket game. Carson Kuykendall led the offensive charge going 3 for 4 with 2 homeruns, 4 RBI’s and 4 runs scored. Also having strong days at the plate were Coy Kelso who was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Cole Franklin who belted out 2 hits with 1 run scored.

Llano Black: 10 vs. Burnet: 26

Game Summary: After leading the game for the first 3 innings, the team from Burnet exploded for 15 runs in the final two innings to take the lead and eliminate Llano Black from the Johnson City tournament. Leading hitters for Llano were Carson Kuykendall who went 3 for 3 with a homerun, 4 RBI’s and 3 runs scored, Coy Kelso who was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored, Brock Fly who had 2 hits and 1 run scored and Jaxon Rhea who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

Llano Orange: 22 vs. Johnson City: 7

Game Summary: After finishing third in the Mason Tournament a week earlier the Llano 8 year olds started the Johnson City Tournament with a bang by dominating the host team in a game called for run rule. Leading hitters for Llano were Cade Ligon who went 3 for 4 with 2 homeruns, a triple and 3 runs scored and Michael King who tallied 4 hits with a double and 3 runs scored.

Llano Orange: 8 vs. Blanco: 10

Game Summary: In a tough winner’s bracket game, the Llano Orange lost a hard fought game to the eventual tournament champion team from Blanco. Leading the offensive output for Llano were Cuatro Rodriguez who was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Cade Ligon who was also 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Llano Orange: 11 vs. Burnet: 14

Game Summary: After eliminating the Llano Black 7 year old team earlier in the day, the all stars from Burnet pulled the double dip by eliminating the Llano Orange 8 year olds from the Johnson City tournament in a loser’s bracket game. Cade Ligon once again put on a hitting display by going 3 for 3 with a homerun, triple and a double to go along with 3 runs scored, while Jackson Pinkney chipped in with 3 hits and a triple for the game. Dillon Prokop turned in a stellar defensive double play by catching a fly ball and doubling up the runner at first base.

Llano Black: 9 vs. Bulverde White: 3

Game Summary: In their third meeting of the year to start the Fredericksburg Tournament, the Llano Black 7 year old all stars showed that they have the team from Bulverde’s number by easily defeating them in an opening round game. Rode Ligon provided the offensive firepower for Llano by going 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Other leading hitters for Llano were Bryce Mize who was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored, Brock Fly who was 2 for 3 with a triple and 1 run scored and Ross Prokop who had 2 hits on the night.

Llano Black: 10 vs. Fredericksburg: 20

Game Summary: The all-stars from Fredericksburg proved to not be very kind hosts as they slugged out a victory over Llano Black in a winner’s bracket game. Brock Fly led the Llano hitters going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored while Caleb Smith and Cole Franklin each chipped in one hit apiece for the game.

Llano Black: 15 vs. Comfort: 5

Game Summary: The Llano Black boys showed their heart by run-ruling the all stars from Comfort in a losers bracket game. Jackson Dillard was the offensive hero for Llano going 3 for 3 with a homerun, a triple, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI’s. Also having strong days at the plate for Llano were Caden Bauman who had 2 hits and 1 run scored, Cole Franklin who went 2 for 2 with 1 run scored and Bryce Mize who was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 runs scored.

Llano Black: 7 vs. Brady: 12

Game Summary: In a hard fought losers bracket game, the all stars from Brady eliminated the Llano Black seven year olds from the Fredericksburg tournament. Llano was led by the hitting tandem of Brock Fly and Carson Kuykendall as each had 2 hits on the game with both players belting a triple and collecting 2 RBI’s apiece. Coy Kelso also had a strong game at the plate going 2 for 2 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Llano Orange: 14 vs. Comfort: 4

Game Summary: The 8 year old Llano Orange all stars started the Fredericksburg tournament with a dominating run rule victory over the all stars from Comfort. Jackson Pinkney and Michael King led the hitting barrage for Llano as Pinkney went 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns and 3 runs scored while King matched him going 3 for 3 with a homerun, a triple and 3 runs scored. Not to be outdone, Cuatro Rodriguez, Brayden Hoy and Gunner Ivey all chipped in homeruns for the orange and black.

Llano Orange: 23 vs. Bertram: 13

Game Summary: Continuing their hot start, Llano run ruled its second team of the tournament in defeating the Bertram all stars. Hitting homeruns for Llano were Bode Gann, Michael King, Dillon Prokop, Cuatro Rodriguez, Jackson Pinkney and Brayden Hoy. Owen Schlueter also chipped in 3 doubles for the game and Kellen Oldfield made a highlight reel catch in left field to lead the defense.

Llano Orange: 11 vs. Bulverde Blue: 16

Game Summary: In a tough winner’s bracket game, the boys from Llano lost a close one to the eventual tournament runner-up in Bulverde Blue. Leading the offense for Llano were Brayden Hoy who went 3 for 3 with a homerun and 3 runs scored and Owen Schlueter who went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored.

Llano Orange: 10 vs. Brady: 15

Game Summary: After defeating Llano Black earlier in the day, Brady proved to be a thorn in both Llano team’s sides as they defeated the Llano Orange to eliminate them from the Fredericksburg tournament. Leading hitters for Llano were Kellen Oldfield who was 2 for 3 with a double and 1 run scored and Dillon Prokop who was 2 for 3 with a triple and 3 runs scored. Hitting 2 baggers was a common theme as Gunner Ivey, Garrett Carney, Owen Schlueter and Brayden Hoy each had a double for the game.

Llano Black: 28 vs. Comfort: 14

Game Summary: In an impressive offensive explosion, the Llano 7 year old all stars were dominating in run ruling the visitors from Comfort. On a night with many offensive stars, Caden Bauman went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 runs scored, Carson Kuykendall was 4 for 4 with a homerun, 2 doubles and 4 runs scored, Coy Kelso was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 runs scored, Ross Prokop was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double and 3 runs scored and Cole Franklin was 3 for 4 with a homerun and 2 runs scored. Also collecting 2 hits on the night were Caleb Smith, Jaxon Rhea, Rode Ligon, Brock Fly, Jackson Dillard and Bryce Mize, with one of Fly’s hits being a homerun.

Llano Black: 13 vs. Bertram: 3

Game Summary: In its second run rule victory of the tournament, Llano Black defeated the all stars from Bertram in a winner’s bracket game. Jackson Dillard led the way going 2 for 3 with a double and numerous outstanding plays at shortstop. Also collecting 2 hits on the night for Llano were Bryce Mize and Carson Kuykendall.

Llano Black: 5 vs. Llano Orange: 15

Game Summary: In a battle between the Llano all-star teams in a winner’s bracket game, the Llano Orange 8 year olds bested their younger Llano Black 7 year old counterparts. Leading hitters for Llano Black were Jaxon Rhea who went 2 for 3 with a double and 1 run scored, Bryce Mize who was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Jackson Dillard who was 2 for 3 with 1 run scored.

Llano Black: 17 vs. Blanco: 21

Game Summary: Battling the Blanco all stars, the winner of the previous 2 all star tournaments and coached by former major leaguer Jason LaRue, the Llano Black 7 year olds showed great tenacity by scoring 12 runs in the final 2 innings before finally being defeated. Carson Kuykendall led the way offensively going 3 for 3 for the game belting out 2 homeruns with 4 RBI’s and scoring 3 runs for Llano. Also providing offensive firepower for Llano were Rode Ligon who went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored, Caden Bauman who was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored, Jaxon Rhea who was 3 for 3 with 1 run scored and Caleb Smith who was 2 for 3 with a double.

Llano Orange: 21 vs. Bulverde White: 3

Game Summary: In dominating fashion, the Llano Orange 8 year old all stars run ruled the visitors from Bulverde in the first round game of the Llano tournament. Leading the way for Llano was Garrett Carney who went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Also having strong hitting nights for Llano were Cuatro Rodriguez who was 4 for 4 with a homerun and 3 runs scored and Michael King who was 4 for 4 with a double and 4 runs scored.

Llano Orange: 19 vs. Mason: 9

Game Summary: In their second run rule victory of the tournament, Llano Orange defeated Mason in a winner’s bracket game. Leading hitters for Llano were Bode Gann who was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored, Kellen Oldfield who was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored, and Gunner Ivey who was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Big hits were also collected by Michael King and Cade Ligon, who each had a homerun on the night, and Brayden Hoy who belted a triple to help the cause.

Llano Orange: 15 vs. Llano Black: 5

Game Summary: Keeping up the theme of run rule victories, the Llano Orange showed their younger counterparts that they would have to wait another year by defeating Llano Black in a winner’s bracket game. Llano Orange was led to victory behind the great defensive plays of shortstop Cade Ligon. Leading hitters for Llano Orange were Jackson Pinkney who went 4 for 4 with a homerun, a double and 3 runs scored and Bode Gann who also went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored.

Llano Orange: 11 vs. Bulverde Blue: 15

Game Summary: Despite leading the whole game, the Llano Orange all stars were unable to hold off the Bulverde Blue all stars in the final inning to suffer their first loss of the Llano tournament. Llano was led offensively by Garrett Carney who went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored and Owen Schlueter who went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Michael King also contributed a homerun in the losing effort.

Llano Orange: 21 vs. Fredericksburg: 12

Game Summary: Showing resiliency after a tough defeat, the Llano Orange all stars eliminated the Fredericksburg all stars from the Llano tournament in a hard fought game. Michael King and Owen Schlueter led the way offensively for Llano with King going 4 for 4 with a double and 4 runs scored and Schlueter going 3 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored. There were several excellent defensive plays made to preserve the victory as Bode Gann threw out a batter at first from his catcher position and Dillon Prokop made all 3 outs in one inning for Llano from his second base position.

Llano Orange: 12 vs. Bulverde Blue: 13

Game Summary: In a rematch during the championship game, Bulverde Blue fought back from behind to score 1 run in the bottom of the 6th inning to defeat Llano to capture the Llano tournament title. Llano was led in the championship game by the hitting of Dillon Prokop and Cade Ligon as Prokop went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and Ligon went 3 for 3 blasting 2 triples and scoring 1 run. Also contributing big hits on the night, were Kellen Oldfield, Bode Gann, and Garrett Carney who each had doubles and Brayden Hoy who belted a triple in the final game. The outfield of Gunner Ivey, Kellen Oldfield, Cuatro Rodriguez, Garrett Carney and Brayden Hoy did an excellent job of keeping balls in front of them and relaying them back to the infield to hold runners. Llano should be proud of all these boys and their 2nd place effort!!

Llano Minors-District 26 Little League Tournament- Kerrville, Texas

Llano: 8 vs. Fredericksburg: 12

Game Summary: In a tough first round loss, the all stars from Fredericksburg held on to defeat Llano and send them to the loser’s bracket to make for a tough road for the rest of the tournament. Kimble Schuessler led the way offensively for Llano going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, while Ethan Tisdale chipped in 2 hits on the night. Tyler Lindell and Justin Low provided strong relief pitching for Llano as Lindell struck out 4 batters in 3 innings of work while Low was dominating on the rubber as he struck out 5 of the 6 batters he faced over the final 2 innings.

Llano: 17 vs. Johnson City: 10

Game Summary: In a late night affair that ended after midnight, the all stars from Llano held on to eliminate Johnson City from the District tournament. Getting 2 hits on the night for Llano were Conner Leifeste, Kimble Schuessler, Quentin Franklin and Kagen Hernandez, while Ethan Tisdale helped his on base percentage by walking 4 times and scoring 4 runs. Kimble Schuessler toed the rubber to start the game striking out 3 batters before giving way to Justin Low who struck out 4 batters during his 2 innings of work. Justin Lange slammed the door shut on Johnson City as he struck out the side in the final inning of the game.

Llano: 13 vs. Blanco: 10

Game Summary: Once again facing elimination, Llano gutted out a victory over the Blanco all stars in a loser’s bracket game. Tyler Lindell led all Llano batters going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored, while Kimble Schuessler and Justin Lange each contributed 2 hits on the evening with Lange scoring 3 runs. Justin Lange pitched 3 strong innings striking out 6 batters and Case Kuykendall closed the door on Blanco over the final 3 innings as he struck out 5 batters in a strong outing.

Llano: 9 vs. Wimberley: 3

Game Summary: Llano relied on the strong pitching of Kagen Hernandez and Tyler Lindell to eliminate Wimberley from the District Tournament. Hernandez struck out 7 in 3 innings of work on the hill while Lindell fanned 5 Wimberley batters to close out the game. Leading hitters for Llano were Conner Leifeste who went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and Kimble Schuessler who was 2 for 2 with 1 run scored. Also collecting hits for Llano were Ethan Tisdale, Luke Keller, Tyler Lindell, Case Kuykendall and Kagen Hernandez.

Llano: 6 vs. Brady: 5

Game Summary: In a hard fought game that had to be played over a 2 day period due to rain, catcher Kimble Schuessler threw out the game tying runner at 3rd base to record the final out and preserve the victory for Llano. Justin Lange led the way offensively for Llano going 3 for 4 with 1 run scored. Schuessler recorded 5 strikeouts as the starting pitcher, while Conner Leifeste had his breaking pitch working as he struck out 3 batters to subdue the dangerous Brady lineup.

Llano: 8 vs. Hill Country: 15

Game Summary: Playing in their sixth game in 7 days, the all stars from Llano were finally eliminated from the District Tournament by the Hill Country team that consisted of all stars from Comfort, Center Point and Ingram. Leading hitters for Llano were Justin Lange who went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and Case Kuykendall who was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored. Also collecting hits for Llano were Jack Neff, Quentin Franklin and Tyler Lindell. The biggest hit of the night came from Kimble Schuessler as he clubbed a 3 run homerun in the 1st inning over the fence in left field to the delight of the Llano fans. Justin Low started the game and struck out 3 batters, while Case Kuykendall pitched the final two innings and struck out 2 Hill Country batters. Congratulations to a great group of boys who showed tremendous heart in fighting back through the losers bracket to finish 3rd in the tournament!
