My name is Harvey Michael Mueller. My wife and I moved here over a year ago after our retirement. I did go to Llano High School in the mid-60's and left here to join the United States Army. I was thrilled the day I left thinking I would never return to Llano but,God had different plans for my life. I write this letter with regard to no religious/politcal organization. I am appalled to learn that The Promote Llano Committee voted to exclude any religious/political organization from having any type of vendor booth at the upcoming September Promote Llano Event. I thought especially we the people of Llano would be welcomed with open arms because we are Llano-the fine people that live here,work here,attend churches here,pay our taxes here, and spend the majority of our hard earned money here. My wife and I will not support this event or any event put on by The Promote Llano Committee. As a matter of fact we will do our best to persuade everyone we come into contact with to not support any events put on by the aforementiond committee because this discrimination against religious/political organizations is a pure form of discrimination. I honestly believed/thought that the people of Llano and, I still do believe the majority of people in Llano/Llano County do not think like this.As a citzen of Llano/Llano County I can not and will not stand by and say nothing because this type of behavior is totally unacceptable and furthermore I believe it to be against the law. It appears that the Promote Llano Committee wants religious/political organizations to support this event but they do not want to allow us to be involved in it as vendors, they want us to spend our money at the event but they do not want to see our churches/political organizations at this event. Yes, I am a pastor of a new church here in Llano but I do not write this letter in that frame of mind. I just want to understand why the churches and political parties are not welcomed after all we go to the churches in Llano/Llano County and are involved in the political arena within Llano/Llano County. It seems we are good enough to do all the aforementioned but not good enough to be involved in the "Promote Llano Event."
