Dorothy Mae Conrad Gregory of Galveston, Texas, formerly of Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2012 at the age of 84.  She was born October 18, 1927 in Llano, Texas to Pauline and Adolph Conrad.  She met the love of her life Jack W. Gregory while working at the front desk of a local hotel in Llano.  She said she knew the first time he walked into the hotel that she was going to marry him and that she did on Jan. 1, 1948.   They made their first home together in Kerrville, Texas where Jack was a Game Warden with Texas Parks and Wildlife and Dorothy began her career in banking.  Jack was later transferred to Temple, Texas where Dorothy continued her career in banking with First National Bank and First Federal Savings and Loan of Temple, Texas.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her darling husband Jack W. Gregory, her parents Adolph and Pauline Conrad, her sisters Billie Mobley and Mae Conrad and brother, Adolph (Judge) Conrad, Jr.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved daughter, Jacqueline Gregory of Austin, Texas and her beloved son, Henry (Hank) Conrad Gregory and wife, Susan Blue Gregory of Galveston, Texas;  grandson Heath Conrad Gregory and wife, Laurie Ann; her two great granddaughters, Kendall Chase and Kenedy Cate of Kerrville, Texas, many special nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

We give thanks for Juanele Loudermilk of Temple, Texas, who was her best friend and traveling buddy.  She was like a sister to her and she missed her so very much when she moved.  We are grateful for her friendship and love.

We give thanks for her wonderful Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Temple, Texas.  She missed visiting and hugging each of you each Sunday and spoke of you often when she moved to Galveston and a special thanks to Esterbell, her wonderful teacher.  Dorothy always said that she could teach the Bible like no other teacher she ever had.  She made an impact on her life and we are grateful for her dedication and friendship.

We give thanks for everyone who helped us care for Dorothy over the last year - the wonderful, caring staff at the Meridian, the compassionate Hospice Care Team and in the end, Rev. Robyn Taylor.

We give thanks for the staff at Right at Home who were always just a phone call away and a special thanks to Rose Rodriguez for her loving care over the last few months.  She gave us peace of mind and for that we are grateful.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10 am at her new church home, First Baptist Church, 822 23rd (Tremont) Street, Galveston, Texas with Dr. Ray Meador officiating.   A Graveside service was held at 10 am at the City of Llano Cemetery on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.

Dorothy was a woman of great faith and though she will be terribly missed, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her darling husband Jack, whom she longed to be with for many years. Praise the Lord!

Memorials contribution may be made in her memory to Hospice Care Team, 1708 Amburn Road, Suite C, Texas City, Texas  77591 or the charity of your choice.
