The Llano Fine Arts Guild is pleased to present Euneen Wendt as our Artist of the Month. Euneen Wendt crafts colorful and vibrant pieces of fused glass in a style all her own. Her works come alive and grab your attention with her dramatic designs and bold use of color. A newcomer to the art world, she has only been working with fused glass since her retirement from teaching school in 2010. She taught kindergarten one year in Llano and finished her career at Packsaddle.
Anyone who has seen her work would have trouble believing that she is fairly new to all this. She did not purchase her Kiln until March of 2011.
Born in Freer, TX the oldest of four siblings, her father was a coach, administrator and teacher depending on where he taught and her mother was a homemaker. Euneen lived in Central and South Texas most of her life and attended A&I and graduated from Sul Ross in 1966.
She met her husband Charles Wendt while they were in school and they lived in Victoria where they had 3 children, two daughters and one son. One of her daughters became a Dental Assistant and the other an English teacher. Their son followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1998 Charles Wendt started his business in Llano. Most people know Charles from his business “The Nailhead Spur” a Llano Landmark. Charles retired from his artistic welding business recently and his son now runs
the business. A talented and artistic pair Charles and Euneen now have seven grandchildren. It will be interesting to see how many of them will carry their artistic genes.
Active in several organizations, Euneen belongs to the Women’s Culture Club, is a member of Alpha Chi and the local chapter of Delta Cappa Gamma. She also loves to read and is learning to quilt.
