County Approves Proposed Tax Rate
Wednesday, August 15, 2012 • Posted August 17, 2012

Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the proposed tax rate for the coming year on Monday.

Currently, the tax rate is $ .299800 per $100 of taxable value. The effective rate is $ .298586.

The proposed rate is $ .308000, which will raise taxes essentially by a penny.

The increase will mean that on average, homeowners will see around a $15 hike in their tax bill for the year.

The average taxable value on a residence in Llano County is $166,135. Taxes assessed on that property value would equal approximately $515.35 for the year as opposed to the $498.07 that homeowners paid this year. Of course, depending on the taxable value of the home, the difference could be greater or less than the $15.

There will be two public hearings on the proposed tax rate increase, one on August 20 and the other on August 27. Both will be held at the Llano County Law Enforcement Center in Llano, and will begin at 1:30pm.
