Dr. Donna Campbell to Speak to Llano Tea Party
Thursday, August 30, 2012 • Posted August 30, 2012

The Llano Tea Party will meet September 6 to elect new officers and steering committee members. The meeting will be held at Inman’s Kitchen in Llano beginning at 6:00 pm for social time, followed at 6:30 pm by dinner, elections and guest speaker. Anyone interested running for one of the officer or five at-large steering committee positions should be prepared to enter his/her name for nomination.

All active members of the Llano Tea Party for at least 180 days prior to the September 6 election date are eligible and encouraged to run for office. LTP bylaws state that the Vice President is in effect the President-Elect. The current President is completing the unexpired term of the prior President; therefore he is President-Elect for 2012-13. Vice Presdient, Secretary and Treasurer, and all five at-large steering committee members are all open for new candidates. Most current officers and steering committee members have been involved since the formation of LTP and according to several members, it’s time for some ”new blood and fresh ideas.”

Dr. Donna Campbell, who recently won the Republican Primary Election by successfully defeating longtime incumbent State Senator Jeff Wentworth, will be the guest speaker at the September 6 meeting. Dr. Campbell hopes to represent the Senate District 25 in the Texas State Senate next year.

The Llano Tea Party has been a strong supporter of Dr. Campbell, two years ago when she ran a close, but unsuccessful race for a seat in Congress, and again in the 2012 campaign. As a parent, ophthalmologist and Emergency Room physician, Dr. Campbell is strongly opposed to the President’s “ObamaCare” program. Mark your calendar to be there on September 6 to hear Dr. Donna, as she is often called, make her case why she should represent the 25th Senatorial District in Texas.

Please contact Patricia Dawson at 325 247-4567 to reserve a place for this program no later than Tuesday, September 4 at which time it is necessary to confirm with the caterers. It is important to make a reservation so adequate seating is available. If it becomes necessary to cancel a reservation, please also advise Ms. Dawson at your earliest convenience, but certainly before the commitment must be given for catering. Any excess food from these dinner meetings is donated to Abundant Love Food Ministry’s weekday lunch program as a joint contribution by Inman’s Kitchen and the Llano Tea Party. Llano Tea Party is happy to welcome any candidates who wish to attend one of the regular monthly meetings. Visiting candidates will find it possible to talk with attendees during the social time, dinner, and after the program.

The Llano Tea Party (LTP) was organized in August of 2010. Formed by a group of Llano County individuals with conservative values, LTP has a stated goal to “take back” our government. Believing in a limited government, working for “We, the people,” LTP believes in individual responsibility, free enterprise, and traditional values. Upholding the United States Constitution, lowering taxes, protecting private property, and ensuring State’s rights in all matters not specifically granted to the U.S. Government are among those ideals for which LTP strives. The Llano Tea Party operates as a 527 PAC, which allows financial contributions to its chosen candidates. Special committees focus on educating area residents as well as monitoring elected officials.
