Lewis Najar

Lewis Najar, of Llano, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the age of 78. He was born on February 28, 1934 in Gillespie County to Manuel Najar and Dora (Castillo) Najar. Lewis had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and in his early years had worked in the granite industry in Fairland, Texas.

Lewis married Barbara Chatham on January 5, 1986 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

He later went to work for the City of Llano and retired as Sanitation Supervisor. Lewis was a devoted member of Bible Baptist Church in Llano where he served as Trustee and had the Bus Ministry for many years. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and landscaping. Lewis was a talented drummer and loved playing music.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Najar of Llano; one son, David Clarno and wife Olga of Llano; two daughters Colette Lockhart and husband Donnie of Haslet, Texas and Maria Najar of Chicago, Illinois; one step son, Bobby Smith of Kingsland, Texas; four step daughters, Fina Pike of Fairland, Texas, Julie Smith of Paris, Texas, Mary Hackworth of Dallas,Texas, and Glenna Westmorland of Paris, Texas. Two sisters, Louise Christian of Kingsland, Texas and Selma Lee Wooten of Cedar Lake, Indiana and one brother, Larry Najar of Llano, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive him. His parents, first wife Zona Carlin, three sisters and two brothers preceded Lewis in death.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Strawn and Bro. Red Watson officiating. The Highland Lakes Honor Guard at Llano City Cemetery provided military Graveside Services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Baptist Church or the Scott and White Hospice in Llano.
