Previewed this week for The Llano Woman’s Culture Club’s Holiday Home Tour is the ranch-style home and office of Gerald Lowery at 1373 East State Highway 29. In keeping with this year’s theme of remodeled and renovated homes, this 1960’s-style home has had several owners through the years. When Gerald bought the house, he drew up the plans for the remodel on a Big Chief tablet and spent about a year remodeling. He retained the pier and beam construction and hardwood floors but enclosed a garage and removed interior walls to make an open floor plan with spacious rooms and high ceilings.
Large porches were a design feature of West Texas ranch homes to keep the house cool during long, hot summers.
This feature has been retained, the front porch providing a view of Sandstone, Sharp and Riley Mountains—a great place to prop up ones feet and sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Visitors will enjoy this warm and comfortable home which is creatively finished and decorated with a masculine style and a sense of humor!
Tickets for the December 1 tour are available from any club member, at Hasse’s TrueValue Hardware, The Market, or at the Clubhouse on the day of the tour. Ticket prices are $14 each or two for $25.
The tour begins at noon and ends at 5 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund and other club projects including the Llano County Library, the Llano County Historical Museum, New Horizons, LADI, and many other worthwhile projects.
