The Llano High School Band has had a great season. The kids have worked very hard and the results of their hard work are evident. The LHS Band received its 34th consecutive 1st Division rating at the UIL Region 7 Marching Contest held in Brady on October 20th. The results of that competition allowed the LHS Band to advance to the UIL Area D Marching Contest held in Waxahachie on October 27th. The band competed against 27 other high school bands in an attempt to be one of only five bands advancing to the UIL State Marching Contest in San Antonio at the Alamodome on November 5th. Although the band fell short of advancing to the state contest, they put their best performance of the year on the field and represented Llano in the most positive of ways.

The band will be performing its annual Light Show at Jacket Stadium on November 12th at 7:30 pm. The Llano Band Boosters will also be selling tamales at the event.

As the band moves into concert season, preparation will begin for the Christmas Concert which will be held on December 16th at 2:00 pm in the LHS Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Students will also be concentrating on the TMEA All-Region Band audition. Students auditioning for the Region Band will be competing against students from all 1A thru 3A schools in our region for placement in the Region 7 Honor Band. The auditions will be held on Saturday, December 1st, at Hamilton High School in Hamilton. Students placing high enough in their respective section will also advance to the area audition in Waco to compete for advancement to the Texas All-State Band.

The Llano Junior High Band is also in full swing with several performances and individual competitions right around the corner. The 6th grade Beginning Band will be presenting its first concert on November 15th at 6:30 pm in the Junior High Band Hall. The Orange and Black Bands will also be performing at the Annual Light Show on November 12th.

Students from the Orange and Black Bands will also be competing at the ATSSB Junior High All-Region Band auditions on December 7th in Brady. Students selected into the All-Region Band will then travel to Ballinger on December the 8th to perform in the ATSSB All-Region Band.

The Llano Band would like to thank everyone for their support this year. A very special thank you goes out to the parents of all Llano ISD band members. Without their support, none of the students’ achievements would be possible.
