Linda Fay Reed, 89, a lifetime resident of Llano, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. She was born April 19, 1923 to Frances Pauline (Teich) Foster and Oscar Linden Foster in San Antonio, Texas. Her grandfather was Frank Teich, a sculptor who came here from Germany. He did the World War 1 monument at the Llano Courthouse and two statues on the Capitol grounds in Austin.
After being a housewife for 20 years Linda had to find a job and support herself and her daughter, Jean. She and Jean moved to Austin where she worked at the Capitol until she met Raymond Reed. In 1972, they were married and moved to Llano. She has been in Llano ever since.
Linda was a great mother, grandmother and friend to many. She always asked about her grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. She was a wonderful cook like her mother, Frankie. You couldn’t beat her pinto beans and cornbread. We looked forward to having her homemade rolls on the holidays. She did have a sweet tooth. We would hardly be finished eating when she was cutting the cake.
She loved playing bridge and played until she couldn’t see anymore. She enjoyed playing with people all over the world on the computer. Players would often ask her if she talked as she did not know how to chat back then.
Linda was also very good at managing money. She could take a nickel and turn it into $1.00. She watched financial shows and always knew what the stock market was doing.
If we wanted to know anything about a certain football player we would ask her. She loved watching football, especially the Cowboys. She never missed a game.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean and her husband, M.D., her stepchildren Don and Gary Reed, her grandchildren Dawn and her husband Stacy, Michael and his wife, Kristi, Stacy and her husband Kyle and Jonathan, Jaime and Chris and her great grandchildren LeAnna, Blake, Hallie, Garrett and Brylee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Linden and Frankie, husband, Raymond Reed, sister, Jane, and daughter, Judy.
Visitation was held Friday, December 7, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Home.
