Members of the Llano Junior High Band participated in Region 7 West Zone Distrct Band auditions at Brady Middle School on Friday, December 7. There were over 320 students auditioning from 20 other schools including Ballinger, Brownwood, Eastland, Brady and Sonora.
There were 21 Llano students who earned spots inthe 81 peice District Band. Earning spots from Llano were: Flutes- Felicia Perez, 3rd, Courtney Inman 6th, Jade Beall, 7th; Clarinets-Sydney Kuehne 2nd, Kortney Payne, 3rd, Jeremiah Barrera 5th, Emily Fordyce 11th, Joan Albor 12th; Alto Sax- Sarah Messer 1st; Bari Sax - Cameron Hall 1st; Trumpets-Gabriel Pincelli 5th, Laura Fordyce 11th; French Horns-Ethan Reeds 1st, Amber Dyess 2nd, Bailey Reeve 7th; Trombone- Hayden Cowart 4th, Cory Dyess 6th, Evan Wheeler 8th; Tubas- Ray Dixon 1st; Percussioon-McKayla Harden 4th, Tyler Wennes 5th.
Llano Junior High Band Directors are Teresa Mazur, Kevin Riley, Keith Riley and Todd Meier.
Nineteen of these kids participated in rehearsals and then a concert at 5pm on Saturday December 8 at Ballinger high School. The students in the District BAnd were put together for that day only and learned four songs for the concert. Clinician/conductor for the District Band was William Owens. Mr. Owens is a clinician and composer for bands all over the United States and Canada. He writes a large portion of the music played by junior high bands today.
We are proud of all of the students from Llano who auditioned on Friday. This was a great experience and they represented Llano in a very positive manner.
