Highland Lakes Republican Women Install Officers For 2013
Wednesday, January 9, 2013 • Posted January 17, 2013

The Highland Lakes Republican Women were honored to have Steve Munisteri, Chairman of the Texas Republican Party, as their special guest at the Annual Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 11. Mr. Munisteri spoke to the HLRW members and guests regarding the recent election and he shared his projections for the Republican Party over the next few years.

Mr. Munisteri also performed the installation oath of office to the HLRW officers who will lead the organization in 2013. Sworn in as President was Jolene Hawkins. Elizabeth ‘Petey’ Inks will serve as Vice-President; Debbie Alexander is the HLRW Secretary and Mary Cunningham will again serve as Treasurer.

The Christmas Luncheon is one of the highlights of the year for the HLRW and one of the reasons is the opportunity to come together in a social setting with many state and local elected officials. Justice Bob Pemberton was one of the guests in attendance and he expressed his appreciation for the support that he received from this area in his successful re-election bid to Place 6 on the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals.

The residents of the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center are also remembered at this time of year and Alma Lahmon, Director of the Crisis Center, was on hand to receive the gifts that were donated by HLRW members. The toys and gift items, suitable for the parents of the children, are then distributed to the residents of the Center. The collecting and distributing of these items is one of the activities that HLRW carries out each year through its ‘Caring for America’ program.

The Highland Lakes Republican Club is a group of conservative women interested in educating ourselves regarding current political issues and supporting Republican candidates. All women with like interests are encouraged to join with us. The HLRW meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at one of the Llano County Libraries. Meeting time has been moved up for 2013 in order to be more convenient for working members.

The social mixer will start at 5:00 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. At 5:45 p.m., the business meeting will begin to be followed by the program presentation. For more information regarding meeting dates and locations, please contact: Jolene Hawkins, President, (325) 388-6359 or Vice-President Petey Inks (325) 247-5011.
