Llano ISD Bond and Board Election Set for May 11
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 • Posted January 24, 2013

The Llano ISD Board approved an order for a Bond Election on May 11, 2013. The amount of the bond is $5.8 million dollars. Due to an anticipated drop in the I&S tax rate, passage of the bond will not result in an increase in the I&S tax rate. The I&S tax rate will remain at the current rate of 12.8 cents per $100 valuation. The bond supports the financial plan previously adopted by the Board by keeping pressure off the daily operations budget, and allows LISD to increase the probability of maintaining projected staffing levels which ensures continued programs and services for students. The bond would be used for capital-intensive projects identified as priorities by the districts administrative team, such as technology, HVAC units, roof renovation, etc. The Board also passed a resolution that would allow the district to be reimbursed for the purchase of new band uniforms, if the bond is passed.

The May 11 elections also seek to fill three full term vacancies: Place 2 Trustee John Moran and Place 7 Trustee and Board President Ronnie Rudd are seeking reelection, while Place 6 Trustee Becky Robinson has announced she will not run again. For those interested in running for one of the three open seats, you may file in person from January 30, 2013 to March 1, 2013, at Llano ISD, 1400 Oatman, Llano, TX 78643.

Monday night’s Llano ISD School Board meeting included a public hearing to review the 2011-2012 District and Campus Academic Excellence Indicator System Reports. Assistant Superintendent Casey Callahan said the reports will be available at the district’s website (www.llanoisd.org).

Board President Ronnie Rudd presented the board with the Annual Financial Audit for the Year Ended August 31, 2012. LISD received a “Clean” audit opinion.
