Leona Ethel Lohmeyer

Leona Ethel Lohmeyer, 91, of Kingsland, Texas passed away on January 17, 2013. She was born to Samuel D. and Susie (Ely) Heimer of Weaverly, Kansas on June 9, 1921.

Leona was married to Dale F. Lohmeyer in September 23, 1940. Mrs. Lohmeyer was the youngest of nine children. She liked to do embroidery. Leona was a successful businesswoman and was an administrator for two nursing homes that she and her husband owned. She also would look after some mental patients from the VA that her husband would bring home from work. They built a dorm to house these patients. Dale was the entrepreneur and she was the motor behind it. She was a good organizer.

Leona is survived by a daughter, Beverly and her husband George Winfield of Kingsland, Texas; a son, Wayne Lohmeyer and his wife Sceptra, of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Her husband, Dale and her eight siblings preceded her in death.

A memorial service was held on January 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Leander, Texas.
