Woman’s Culture Club Announces New Officers

The Llano Woman’s Culture Club held its annual business luncheon on Monday, February 11, 2013. Hostesses for meeting were Kathy Hussey, Gayle Hardaway, Mary Smith, Billie Laning and Janice Shannon who carried out a Valentine theme with beautiful decorations. The delicious luncheon was catered by David Griffith.

Officers for the 2013-14 club year were elected by the membership; Euneen Wendt, Yearbook Coordinator; Mary Smith, Treasurer, Emily Hudkins, Historian; Patsye Parker, Reporter; Lou Moyer, 1stVice President; Julia Hilbun, Recording Secretary; Carol Dodgen, President; Janice Shannon, Parliamentarian; Gail Johnson, Corresponding Secretary. Barbara Heldridge, 2nd Vice President.

Four new members were elected and will be introduced at the March meeting.

Plans for the Spring Buffet to be held at the Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 24, were finalized by Lou Moyer and her committee. Each member will be preparing two dishes for the buffet and these home-cooked items will include roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy; turkey and dressing and a variety of casseroles and vegetables. Dessert, tea and coffee will be furnished. Tickets are $8 and may be obtained from any member or at the door on the day of the luncheon.

Euneen Wendt and her committee consisting of Barbara Gersch, Lisa Spanjer, Bitsy Russell, and IdaNell Schuessler also presented plans for the annual Spring bus tour which will be on Monday, April 8, 2013, and this year will be to historic Boerne. The tour will include visits to the Cibolo Nature Center, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the historic Kendall Inn, and Sister Creek Winery, where an optional wine-tasting will be held. Lunch will be at Little Gretel restaurant on the river.

Gerry Martin won the scholarship drawing, and members presented their gifts designated for the Llano County Library. At each meeting members bring canned goods for the Llano Food Pantry.
