Native Hill Country artist, Shirley Davis, has been selected as Artist of the Month by the Llano Fine Arts Guild. An active member of the Llano Fine Arts Guild, Shirley served as president for three years and in many other positions in the guild since joining in 2000. She has studied watercolor portrait painting with Betty Bielser, oil painting with Doug Prine and several others.

Shirley has lived and worked in the Hill Country most of her life. Even though she is now retired, she has always been involved in many other activities. Activities that included volunteering to do EMS work, working with the Children’s Advocacy Center in Burnet and occasionally filling in as a lay preacher at the Methodist Church in Castell.

Currently, she is working to become certified as a Master Gardener.

Other hobbies include working with crafts, raising animals, taking trips with her children and grandchildren and playing with her new great grandson.

To see Shirley’s paintings, and the artwork of other artists in the non-profit Llano Fine Arts Guild come by the Llano Fine Art Gallery at 503 Bessemer Ave. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday 1:00 to 4:00pm.
