Lela Mae Gatliff

Lela Mae Gatliff, lifetime resident of San Saba, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the age of 89.  She was born to Susie (Crawford) and Edgar Reagor on January 15, 1924 in Belton, Texas.  Lela Mae married Earl Doyle Gatliff on August 20, 1942 in San Saba, Texas.  She was a homemaker.  Lela Mae taught a private kindergarten in San Saba for many years.  She unselfishly devoted her time and talents for more than 45 years to community service organizations and beautification projects for the City of San Saba.  She recently received the San Saba “Heritage Award”.  She was also recognized as “Woman of the Year” and the City of San Saba proclaimed “Lela Mae Gatliff Week” in the late nineties.

Lela Mae is survived by her daughter, Jana Osbourn and husband, Gary of Llano, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Doyle Gatliff, her parents, Susie (Crawford) and Edgar Reagor, two brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of Lela Mae’s life was held at the San Saba City Cemetery of San Saba, Texas, Friday, May 17, 2013 at 4:00 pm with Edward Ragsdale, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City of San Saba Parks Department Christmas Lighting Fund or favorite charity of choice.
