Llano County Sheriff's Office Brown Santa Program
Posted November 6, 2013

What is the LCSO's Brown Santa Program? The Llano County Sheriff's Office Brown Santa Program is a program that demonstrates the compassion and care of the citizens and law enforcement officers of this county for the needy children and young adults during the holiday season. We solicit monetary donations and donations of new toys from local businesses and individuals and we use these donations to distribute Christmas gifts to local children in need. This effort is made in the true spirit of Christmas to insure that these young people experience, in a tangible way, the generosity of their collective community.

Who is eligible for this program? Children (age 0-18) who reside in Llano County are eligible if their family is considered low-income and/or have experienced a significant financial hardship during the past year. If the child is school-age, he/she must be attending school to be eligible. Please note: If the family is participating in another Christmas assistance program, such as Llano New Horizons, Angel Tree, etc., they will not be eligible for assistance from Brown Santa.

Where can I get an application? Applications are available by contacting the Llano County Sheriff's Office at (325) 247-5050 or by picking up an application at the Sheriff's Office at 2001 N. State Hwy 16, Llano. Applications will also be available at any Justice of the Peace Office in Llano County.

Applications will be accepted October 23, 2013 through November 29, 2013. Time constraints and available gifts will dictate meeting the needs of late applicants.

Can I nominate a deserving family? Yes, you may nominate a family you feel could benefit from this program. However, the family will still need to meet the eligibility guidelines, as outlined above, and they will also need to turn in a completed and signed application.

How can I help? Volunteers are an integral part of this program. You can volunteer to help collect toys, shop for gifts, and/or wrap gifts. Please contact the Llano County Sheriff's Office at (325)247-5050 if you would like to volunteer to help. In addition to monetary donations, we also accept donations of new toys & children's books, wrapping paper, tape, gift bags, and gift tags. Any donations for Brown Santa can be dropped off at the Llano County Sheriff's Office, any Llano County Library branch, any Llano County Justice of the Peace Office, or the East Llano County Annex.

For additional information, please contact: Brad Evans, John Neff, or Donna Roberts at (325)247-5050.
