Crawfish Open this weekend
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 • Posted April 14, 2010

Llano will hold its annual Crawfish Open this weekend at the Llano River Golf Course and neighboring Robinson Park. From its relatively humble beginnings in 1989, the Crawfish Open has grown into a huge, exuberant party, with thousands celebrating spring on the banks of the beautiful Llano River. Last year, volunteers cooked 12,000 pounds of crawfish.

This year’s Crawfish Open will begin with a golf tournament Friday morning, and will continue on Saturday with a motorcycle fun run, the “Crawfish Crawler” 5K Walk/Run, all kinds of fun activities for children, a team roping, washer pitching, arts & crafts booths, live entertainment, and (of course) tons of crawfish.

Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros will be performing at the Robinson Park pavilion on Friday night; the W.C. Jameson Trio will open for Radney Foster and The Confessions on Saturday night. Sean Vidrine will play Zydeco Cajun music both afternoons.

All of the (very considerable) proceeds go to local charities, including the Llano Special Opportunity Center, Meals on Wheels and others. For more information, visit llanocrawfishopen.com.
