Nell Bauman

Nell (Wolaver) Bauman, age 83 of Llano, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010. She was born on March 2, 1927 in Ellis County to Alice Blanche and Sam Wolaver. Nell married Ross Bauman on February 18, 1950 in Fort Worth.

She graduated from Texas Christian University with her Bachelors Degree. Nell was a school teacher with Llano Independent School District and retired after over 35 years of service. Nell, Ross and the Norton sisters helped organize the Republican Party in Llano. She was very active in the Republican Women’s Club and became a member and chaplain of the Highland Lakes Republican Women.

. She served as Precinct 101 chairperson for many years and served as election judge for many years as well. Nell and Ross were founding members of the Llano Historical Museum and served on the board for over 40 years. She was also a long time member and very active in the Women’s Culture Club here in Llano. Nell was a member of the Llano Church of Christ.

Nell is survived by her 1st cousin Mrs. Douglas “Nell” Bauman; cousins, Ken Shaffer and wife Kathy, Keith Shaffer and wife Gina, Timmy Bauman and Marci Booth, Gary Bauman and wife Lynda, Dale Bauman and wife Angie, Randy Kuykendall and wife Sara all of Valley Spring, Ricky Bauman and wife Donna of Enchanted Rock; nieces Susan Harris and Carol Wolaver and husband Kevin of Italy, Texas.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband Ross, and infant son, her parents and a brother.

Funeral Services were held Monday, August 9, 2010 at Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Chapel in Llano, Texas at 10:00 am with Brother Jacob Hawk officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Cody Bauman, Josh Bauman, Taisa Bauman, Ryan Bauman, Justin Bauman, and Nicki Bauman. Burial followed at Cold Creek Cemetery.
