Highland Lakes Master Gardeners Win 8 Awards at State Convention

The Texas Master Gardener Association Conference was held in San Antonio, May 3-5, 2012.

Fourteen members of the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners were in attendance. Out of eleven categories, eight ribbons/plaques were awarded to the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners for educational exhibits, presentations, community projects and outstanding association.

First place ribbons/plaques went to Educational Exhibit, Dig-It Newsletter and Website Education ("Texas Tough Plants") while Outstanding Master Gardener Association (HLMGA), Graphics Presentation ("Central Texas Butterflies and Their Plants") and Educational Program ("Come Grow with Us"-Marble Falls Elementary School Garden) took a second place. Project (Helping Center Garden) and Mass Media ("Friends of the Garden" supporting the Marble Falls Helping Center Garden) brought home third place.

The entries were based on work done by the Association in 2011.

The Master Gardeners will continue to offer quality educational gardening programs and community projects throughout the year.

Those attending the State conference were Warren Struss, President; Paula Montandon, Past President; Carol Nicholson, Nancy Bardouche, Sylvia Williams, Val Klaudt, Sheryl Yantis, Robert Yantis, Linda Fleming, Suzanne Labry, Suzi Campagna, Nancy Kinard, Carolyn Lange, and Colleen Struss.
