Growing “New Servants For The Lord”
Wednesday, May 16, 2012 • Posted May 16, 2012

Grace Episcopal Church, Llano, under the leadership of Master Gardener, Judy Waddell, initiated a new Sunday school venture. The young attendees of Grace Church Sunday school and their teacher, Kendrah McDonald (with the help of caring parishioners) began Lent with a spring garden in the newly renovated children’s play area.

The decision was made to build a raised bed for their garden. Bill Lipscombe chipped in with his carpentry skills and built the frame for the raised bed. Then, lots of our parishioners helped buy and put in more soil than one can imagine. Next, the bed was divided into sections so that each child would have his/her own area plus several group areas. A Sunday morning during the Sunday school hour was chosen for the planting. There was a short lesson on seeds, potatoes, and other veggies. Fortunately this spring has been green and cool so the garden is coming along nicely...and the children work and observe God’s green thumb each week.

Those adults who helped with this project are: Bill Lipscombe, Bill Barlett, Gail Williams, Judy Waddell, Kendrah McDonald, Lisa Pheil, Raymond McDonald, Kearby Needham, Michael Marcoux, Ann Robinson and Elyse Peavy.

Thanks be to God of Nature, the green lovely spring, our children and the church.
