– The Llano Community is hosting a blood drive Thursday, July 2 from 2 pm – 6 pm in front of City Hall. The drive is open to the public and walk-ins are always welcome!

Though summer is a time for vacations – local patients’ need for blood never takes a vacation. The Blood Center of Central Texas applauds the community of Llano for continuing its commitment to keep the blood supply at a safe level during the summer months when historically, donations are down because of an increase in travel, more people are on vacations and the likelihood of persons needing blood rises.

“July 2 is a perfect day for a blood drive. People can honor America, celebrate freedom and independence and do something for their community,” said Gina Moore, blood drive coordinator.

As an added incentive, all persons who donate on July 2 will be automatically entered to win a $1,000 Simon Mall Visa gift card. The drawing will be held on September 4 and the winner need not be present to win.

The Blood Center of Central Texas is very grateful for the city of Llano’s commitment to keeping the blood supply in Central Texas at a safe level and looks forward to a successful blood drive on July 2.

Basic Requirements for donating blood include being at least 17 years of age, weighing at least 110 lbs, and being in generally good health. Donors should know their social security number and bring a photo ID. The process takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour
