Monday’s City Council Meeting never got off the ground because three aldermen did not show up.
Mayor Roger Pinckney called a no quorum saying that “two had prior engagements and one was sick.”
The absentee aldermen confirmed they could not have been at the meeting due to other responsibilities.
The only two items on the agenda that were lightly discussed were plans for the Llano Skate Park and the bonds for the new sewer plant.
Many people were in favor of the idea of a skate park, thinking it would get the kids off the sidewalks and benefit the community in many ways.
“It’s something I’m totally in favor of,” Alderwoman Cheryl Crabtree said. She added, the meeting on March 20 concluded that this park was doable and sparks the kid’s interest because they were at the meeting. Another meeting for further discussion of the Llano Skate Park is scheduled for April 11 at the library.
The bond issue was discussed but not considered. Mayor Pinckney said the sewer plant was to go forward and the bonds would be discussed at a later date.
Other items on the agenda included discussion and consideration of the city’s policy for tree trimming in an effort to prevent Oak Wilt, a budget amendment, contracting with Local Government Services to conduct a pole attachment audit, the Animal Control and Protection Ordinance, approving a letter of agreement with Grant Development Services for the Texas Capital Fund Main Street Project for sidewalk and lighting improvements.
Other items were to discuss and consider the Hotel/Motel Tax funds request to advertise the Third Annual Texas Proud Festival and closing Berry Street between Sandstone and Main for the Texas Proud Festival, which will take place May 23 through May 25.
Pinckney designated West College as a one-way street running east from Ford to Berry during the St. James Lutheran Church’s Fajita Dinner Fundraiser this Sunday.
