The Highland Lakes Republican Women will be meeting at the Library in Kingsland this month. Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, April 16 at 11 a.m.to bring a box lunch and come hear a speaker with a very impressive biography. Peggy Venable is Texas Director - Americans for Prosperity.

She is native Texan and maintains an office in Austin, has worked in public policy and grassroots campaigns in government for over 30 years, the past 15 in Washington, D.C.

Peggy was White House Liaison for three cabinet secretaries including the Department of Education and the US Dept. of the Interior where she directed the “Take Pride in America” grassroots campaign which encompassed eight federal agencies.

Peggy Venable has served as senior staff at the RNC and directed the Republican National Convention in 1984. She has worked in political and issue campaigns at the national, state and local levels.

It is that experience coupled with her public policy expertise that she has put to work at Americans for Prosperity, a grassroots organization focused on taxpayer protections.

Peggy has filed a lawsuit on behalf of taxpayers (Venable vs Williamson County and the Texas Associaton of Counties) on taxpayer-funded lobbying and is a national spokesperson on that issue.

You may have seen her on a T.V. talk show, heard her on radio or read one of her many articles in newspapers for which she has won numerous public affairs and journalism awards.

She is a contributing editor to the Lone Star Report, on the boards of the Texas Center for Education Research, the Austin CEO Foundation, the Reagan Conservative Society and is immediate past President of the Texas Women’s Alliance as well as a past President of the Texas State University Foundation Board.

She is also the proud mother of a 20 year-old daughter who is a college (honor) student at Peggy’s alma mater.
