The game may have lasted all seven innings but for the second consecutive time this season, Llano ripped Wimberley by 10 runs (11 to be exact) with a 13-2 shelling Friday night.

In the district opener in Llano, the Jackets sent the Texans away in just five innings. On the road, things may have started off a little slower but the end result was the same.

Llano improved to 3-1 in district and follow Bandera, who it will meet Friday.

Pitching ace Ty Compton gave up just four hits and fanned seven Wimberley batters with some outstanding defensive playes behind him. In the bottom of the third inning, Dustin Jordan and Wes Regmund scored a rundown out on Ricky Gaitan attempting to steal second.

Then, shortstop Travis Ramos picked up a double play on a grounder from Justin Welden as he tagged second and made a good throw to first.

Wimberley managed to score one run in the bottom of the first but it didn’t take long for Llano to come back.

In the second inning, Ty Thurman hit a grounder past third and Nathan Dudley reached on a hit batsman. Both scored later, Thurman on a sacrifice from Regmund and Dudley when Trey Brooks legged out a grounder to short.

Lance Dickey tacked on another run in the top of the third.

After good defensive performance in the bottom of the third, the Jackets added two. Regmund hit one back through and Cody Fietz legged out a grounder to short. Both scored on Texan errors.

As Wimberley continued to look for a pitcher, the Jackets doubled up in the sixth with five runs, putting the game out of reach.

Brooks walked and scored on a hit by Dickey.

Dickey hit a standing double to center and scored on a hit by Kyle Leyendecker.

Leyendecker hit a Texas Leaguer and scored on a Ty Thurman hit.

Thurman hit a drive to left and scored on a Nathan Dudley triple that also brought in Jordan.

Llano put the nail in the coffin in the seventh after two strikeouts and a sliding grab by Dudley in centerfield sent the Texans away in the sixth.

Dickey reached on a grounder to right, scoring Brooks who hit a single. Leyendecker drove one to center, scoring Dickey. Jordan’s fly to right scored the 13 run.

Another double play highlighted the bottom half of the inning.

Bandera 5 - Llano 0

The stedy pitching arm of Bandera’s Ethan Lutz cost Llano its first district lost of the season last week, despite the Jackets eeking out a few key hits.

But, Lutz was able to pitch a three hitter, striking out seven Llano batters.

The Jackets made a run in the third inning, filling the bases with just one out but were unable to come up with the score.

Llano did have its moments. In the second, the Jackets scored a double play when a grounder to third was easily handled by Jordan, who made a throw to third to catch Michael Campbell in a rundown between thrid and home.

The Bulldogs finally broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning with three runs on a standing triple by Campbell, who was later thrown out at third by Brooks.

Bandera tacked on single in the fifth as the Jackets were sent away in order in the fifth in sixth innings.

Pitcher Leyendecker went the distance on the mound with five strikeouts, giving up four hits.

Friday, the Jackets will look to capture a share of the district lead on the road in Bandera.
