The Kingsland Library will be celebrating fifty years of bringing library services to the Kingsland area.

Join the library staff and Friends of the Library on Friday, April 18 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. There will be guest speakers, former and current librarians, refreshments, door prizes and more.

Also this year, the Texas Summer Reading Club is celebrating fifty years of summer reading with the “Texas Reading Club Jubilee: 1958-2008!”

The Children’s Librarians at the Kingsland and Llano Libraries are busy making plans for this annual summer event. More information on the dates and times will be posted very soon.

Work is already underway at the Llano Library making ready for the “Trading Spaces” Project. The staff and Friends and volunteers have already started moving entire collections from one area to another to give the library a fresh, new look.

The library will have to close on Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22 for the Stanley Door Company to install the new automatic doors.

Celebrate “Earth Day” at the Lakeshore Library on Tuesday, April 22 at 2:30 p.m. with “Wild About Apples” with Apple Valley Orchards of Llano. John Caballero and his wife Susan will talk about their apple orchard filled with over 450 apple trees on land just south of Llano.

Join Essie Mae at the Llano Library on Wednesday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. for her take on travel in “Travel – The Essie Mae Way”. She will travel from yesteryear through today visiting places, sharing songs and interesting trivia, and reminiscing with you about your own travels.
