Have you been shopping for those canned goods yet? Have you marked your calendar for Friday, May 2? If you haven’t... you still have time.

The “Oldies But Goodies Car Show and Social Club” is hosting its first ever canned food drive on behalf of the Llano Food Pantry. You won’t want to miss out on the fun and satisfaction of knowing you’re helping your fellow citizens.

Did you know our Llano Food Pantry serves families of all ages? These families are qualified according to income. Most of us have never wondered where our next meal is coming from. By participating in this event, you will be helping other people know that same feeling.

Each two canned goods will earn you a raffle ticket. Naturally, the more food you bring, the more chances you’ll have to win some really great prizes.

Our prize list: (so far)

• Gift basket from Tobie Hubble at “Hair Tales” beauty salon.

• An Interstate battery from Les at Inman’s Station

• $25 gift certificate from Hasse’s

• Gift from Llano Welding Supply

• Kingsland Health & Fitness has donated one month’s free membership AND ten free “day” passes

• $25 gift certificate from The Acme

• $25 gift certificate from Miiller’s Smoke House

• Gift from Car Quest

• Gift from Napa

• $25 gift certificate from Inman’s Kitchen

• $20 gift certificate from Hill Country Gifts

• A free oil change from A-1 Tire

• Several free movie rentals from 3-M

As you can see, our prize list continues to grow! The generosity of our Llano County businesses never ceases to amaze me.

You don’t have to own an old car or hot rod to participate. Join our family friendly group in the parking lot at Inman’s Kitchen on Highway 29 West, Friday, May 2 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Come on out for some fun and know you’ll be helping a most worthwhile service.

Call Rick at (325) 247-3838 or Richard at (325) 248-3587 if you have questions or would like to donate a prize.

See you on Friday, May 2. Just in case it rains, this event will be moved to Friday, May 9.
