A Llano couple has been arrested on felony charges of stealing over $20,000 in property from their employer, the Buttery Company.

Mary Elizabeth Faircloth, age 31, has been an employee at the Buttery Company for eight years, and was arrested on Jan. 27 on a warrant by Llano Police and booked into the Llano County Jail. She was released on a $10,000 bond the next day.

Mary’s husband, Timothy Lewis Faircloth, age 38, was arrested on Jan. 29 on a warrant alleging a similar theft charge and was released from the Llano County Jail the same day on a $10,000 bond. Timothy Faircloth had worked at the Buttery Company since 2004.

A team of law enforcement officers executed a search warrant for the Faircloth’s home at 1903 Exall and discovered a cache of merchandise in the manufactured home and storage shed behind the home including boxes of hardware supplies, power tools, lawn care equipment, and a vast array of the type of merchandise sold by the Buttery Company. Llano Police Chief James Shilling said his department worked closely with the Llano County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers in developing this case and executing the search and arrest warrants.

Shilling said the investigation is ongoing as officers interview witnesses, follow leads, and inventory the truckloads of merchandise that is now stored in a locked room at the Police Department.

The Faircloths have each been charged with one count of theft of not less than $20,000 nor more than $100,000 in property, a 3rd degree felony, which carries a punishment range of two to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
