Executive Director of Texas Parks and Wildlife, Carter Smith, Game Warden Brent Whitus, Governor Rick Perry, Game Warden Theron Oatman, Representative Donna Howard, and Colonel Peter Flores.

On June 9, 2009, Theron Oatman graduated a Texas Game Warden after seven months at the new Texas Game Warden Academy in Hamilton, Texas. Oatman was among the 54th class of new wardens sworn in by Col. Peter Flores on the House of Representatives Chamber Floor in Austin.

Oatman is the son of Sam and Diane Oatman of Llano. He was a 2003 graduate of Llano High School and a 2007 graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Agriculture Education. Oatman is married to Ashley Ann Jacobs, daughter of David and Susan Griffith. Theron and Ashley have a son, Brennen, and have been stationed in Travis County where he began work in June.

Oatman joins a law enforcement family as his brother in law, Brent Whitus, is a game warden stationed in Burnet county. Oatman’s father is District Attorney for the 33rd and 424th Judicial Districts.
