1968 - 2010

Casey Steven Lord, 41, passed from this life Monday, Jan. 1, 2010, joining his beloved sons, Dylan and Brendon.

Casey was born July 9, 1968, in New Iberia, La., and grew up in Kerrville. He was a graduate of Lutheran High South in Houston. At age 19, Casey enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served honorably for three years, leaving the Marines as Corporal on a medical discharge due to a back injury. Casey graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and proudly served as Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas, as had his maternal grandfather, Guy O. Tufts. Eight years ago, Casey began working in the family businesses. Within three years, he had opened a third pawn shop, Central Texas Gun & Pawn in Boerne, overseen the purchase of Budget Finance in Boerne and opened two more Budget Finance branches, one in Kerrville and the other in Leon Valley.

Casey’s friends know he valued friendship above all else, held tightly to truth and integrity and was generous to a fault.

The loves of Casey’s life were his boys, Dylan and Brendon. Together, they would water ski, jet ski, hike, go to movies, play video games, and just hang out. When his sons were killed tragically in a plane crash late last year, Casey was devastated.

Casey was preceded in death by his sons, Dylan Lord, 13, and Brendon Lord, 12, and the boys’ “Mr. C,” Carlos McKinney. He is survived by his mother, Gary Ann Lord of Llano and Kerrville; his father, Ronald Lord of Houston; his sister, Mychele Lord of Dallas; his grandmother, Mary Tufts; his maternal aunt, Cecile Woodward; and cousins, Diane Gibson, Marshall Lord and Michael “Mack” Lord; and second cousins, Chelsea Lord, Mason Lord, Donica Gibson, Malia Lord and Marin Lord.

Memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 5,2010 at Grime Funeral Chapel in Kerrville.
