For the past two Saturdays, Llano High School’s Kaitlin Hairston placed first in Ready Writing at two UIL Invitational Meets. On January 31 at Round Rock High School and on February 6 at Wimberley High School, the sophomore captured a gold medal in this two hour expository essay contest. She also placed fifth in editorial writing.

Llano’s Accounting Team of Cara Mack, Jacob Thomsen and Tyler Bennett got their numbers correct, placing second with senior Cara Mack leading the team with bronze medal. Sophomore Jacob Thomsen captured sixth place.

In the Science contest, Bram Berkelmans placed fifth. Bram is one of Llano’s foreign exchange students, hailing from the Netherlands.

This Thursday, Llano’s two CX Debate Teams will be facing Burnet’s four teams for the chance to go to the State CX Meet in Austin.

Accompanying the Llano team were Number Sense coach, Jesse McWhorter; Accounting coach, Laina Murry; and Writing coach Debbie Engler.

The final Invitational Meet for the rest of the academic teams will be Saturday, February 27, at Westwood High School in Austin. The Best of Texas On-Line Contests continue through Llano’s District Meets. The Writing and LD Debate District is at Liberty Hill on Thursday, March 25, with the rest of the academic contests being on Saturday, March 27.
