At the request of Llano County Judge Wayne Brascom, engineers contracted by FEMA issued a revised set of maps to be proposed for future floodplain determination in the western end of Llano County. The revised maps use the flood of 1935 as a basis for determining the floodplain.

Llano County officials note there are some changes from the original set of maps introduced in 2009. Most of the change appears to benefit the home or land owner, but each property owner should contact the Llano County Floodplain Administrator to see how the changes impact their property.

Officials of Llano County point out that both the new maps and the original maps for the eastern end of the County are preliminary only, and still must be approved by FEMA. The Llano County Commissioners Court will consider adoption of the maps sometime later this year, after FEMA has issued their approval.

Residents may offer written comments regarding the proposed maps to FEMA by addressing their concerns to the Floodplain Administrator at 100 W Sandstone Street, Suite 200A, in Llano, (325) 247-2039. The protest period has yet to be initiated by FEMA, but all comments will be forwarded to FEMA.
