Jean retired from the Army Nurse Corps as a colonel. She was director of the Army Institute of Nursing School at Walter Reed. After retiring, she moved to Denver, Colo. where she received an associate degree in Carpentry; used her skills as a habitat volunteer, worked as a hospice nurse and enjoyed skiing in the Rockies.

Jean was an avid golfer and eventually the mild Texas winters drew Jean back to her home state. Here in the heart of Texas she had the opportunity of spending time with her sister and friends. She will remain in the hearts of many.
