More than 30 artists will exhibit and sell their works around the Llano Courthouse Square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the First Annual Spring Fling Starving Artist Sale and Show.

“We are excited to have artists from as far away as San Angelo, Austin and Fredericksburg,” said Robin Chiesa, who organized the show. “We, of course, have artists from Llano, but also from Brady, Mason, Leander and Liberty Hill.”

In addition to painters in a number of mediums and woodworkers, artists are to show work in photography, ceramics, jewelry, collage and ceramics.

“We are encouraging visitors also to drop in and become familiar with the large number of works at the Llano Art Guild,” said Chiesa.

This show is totally non-profit, except for the artists themselves.

“We want to people to realize how many exceptionally talented artists we have, to enjoy their work here in Llano and to support them,” said Chiesa.

The organizer is a licensed massage therapist, who operates Milagro Massage & Spa de Ciel at 305 East Young Street.

She has an artistic bent herself and she said she had hoped she might have her hands back in clay before the show.

“It did get be out of the closet and in to the spare bedroom,” said Chiesa cheerfully. “But this was a lot of work.

“I attended the Mason show last year and I said to myself, ‘I know Llano has lots of artists hiding who need to come out and be seen.’

“People I talked to said, ‘We should do this,’ and now we have.”

Although Chiesa is second vice president of the Llano Chamber of Commerce, she elected to develop the show for the artists themselves without booth entries or fees so it is endorsed but not sponsored by the chamber.
