Healthy body, healthy spirit

Llano Memorial Healthcare System (LMHS) and the First Baptist Church of Llano have partnered together for a health fair Tuesday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The health fair will be held at the First Baptist Church Education and Activities Building, the corner of Luce and Berry Street.

Screenings for cholesterol, PSA (prostate specific antigen), blood sugar, hemoglobin (anemia screen), blood pressure, oxygen saturation level, and body mass index will be offered.

All screenings are free with exception of a nominal $10 charge for the PSA. In addition to health screenings, exhibitors will have educational material on a variety of health topics ranging from diabetic and nutritional information, to safety and cancer awareness information.

According to Kevin Leeper, LMHS CEO “health fairs are one of Llano Memorial’s outreach efforts and probably the one that touches the most number of lives. For many, the screenings received at one of our health fairs may be the only health services received during the year.”
