Mary Ellen Eifert, 63, of Kingsland, passed away April 23. She was born to Rudy and Sophia (Heywood) Stangel on January 8, 1945, in Fremont, Neb.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Robert Eifert, of Kingsland; her daughter, Ellen Taylor and husband, Michael, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her son, Thomas Eifert, of Rapid City, S.D.; her three granddaughters; her sister, Betty Ortmeier and husband, Harold, of Blair, Neb.; her step-sisters, Georgine LaPorta and husband, Bill, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Yvonne Neiwohner and husband, Leo, of Lyons, Neb., Mary Svitak and husband, Eddie, of Howells, Neb.; her step-brother, Alvin Kampschneider, of Fremont, Neb.; many friends; and her two pets, Missy and Rusty.

Mary married Robert Eifert on March 17, 1972. They moved to Kingsland, and started Eifert Custom Covers. They sold that business in August of 2006 and officially retired. She belonged to the Indian Trails Woman’s Golf Association and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary in Kingsland and a former member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 30 at the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel.
