This year’s Third Annual Texas Proud Festival and Shoot Em’ Up

will have a number of new venues sure to delight young and old alike.

This year the Butterfield Overland Stage Company celebrates 150 years and there will be an authentic 1800s Butterfield stage at the festival giving rides to folks throughout the downtown.

But riders beware as there are already reports of bands of outlaws gearing up to rob the stage. This year’s event will also feature a cooking demonstration by The Lone star Ducth Oven Society, a complete SRT (Sons of the Republic of Texas) encampment, a number of cow camp encampments, and of course the largest re-enactment competition.

The festival will be held at multiple locations with vendors, pony rides, wild west show, and music all downtown around the courthouse square and the competition and encampments being held in Badu Park. Everyone is invited to dress up in their finest pioneer/frontier attire and join the fun.

The festival kicks off Friday, May 23 with a mixer and dance downtown for competitors, vendors, participants, and sponsors.

Saturday morning everything kicks off at 9 a.m. and will run all day ending with a Cattle Barron’s Gathering on the patio at the Badu House. Sunday morning will start at 8 a.m. with Cowboy Church in the park and run till 5 p.m. that evening. Monday the festivities begin at 9 a.m. and will end around 4 p.m.

Anyone wishing to participate as a vendor, volunteer, living history displayer, or an organization with a fundraiser can call the Chamber of Commerce at 247-5354.

Texas Flags will go on sale at the Chamber office the second week of May.

These are 12x18 inch flags on a two foot dowel good for yard, planter, or holding. The Chamber has set a goal of having no less than 200 Texas Flags displayed throughout Llano. Cost of the flags are just $4.50 and all proceeds go to offset the costs of the festival.
