After the deadline to receive overseas ballots passed at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 8, Llano County Elections Administrator Candy Kokernot said no overseas ballots had been received since the election results were announced last Tuesday night.
Ron Hewitt, Llano County Republican Party Chair, said that Linda Raschke will face Marvin Gray in the April 13 Republican Party primary run-off election to become Llano County Commissioner for Precinct 2.
Raschke, of Kingsland, led a quartet of candidates, gathering 329 votes (35.84%) on the March 2 primary ballot for the position being vacated by the retirement of Commissioner Henry Parker. Gray, of Tow, garnered 259 votes (28.21%) to edge out Jesse James, who received 255 votes (27.78%), to get into the run-off.
Hewitt said Richard Owen will meet W. Kermit Robinson in the Republican run-off election for the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace. Owen, a retired lawyer and the incumbent from Horseshoe Bay, received 530 votes (40.96%) and Robinson, a sheriff’s deputy from the City of Llano, received 323 votes (24.96%) in the primary.
Hewitt reminds voters that the Texas Election Code does not require a voter to have voted in the main primary election in order to participate in the subsequent run-off election. However, voters who participated in the March 2 Democratic Party primary may not cross over to vote in the April 13 Republican Party run-off election.
A drawing for ballot position for the candidates will be held at the Llano Library on March 11.
