Sgt. Mark A. Stone, 22, of Buchanan Dam, died serving his country in Iraq on April 28, 2008. He was born to Donald and Bonnie Stone on March 16,1986 in Austin.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie.

Sgt. Stone is survived by his father Donald Stone, of Buchanan Dam, and his brother, Jason Stone, of Washington.

Sgt. Stone graduated from the Kingsland Christian Academy and was a member of Calvary Hill Church in Kingsland. He joined the United States Army and served in Afghanistan in 2006 and the second in Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. While he was on leave, he would volunteer for church activities and ministered to children, adults, and fellow soldiers.

An open visitation was held Monday and Tuesday at Putnam Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 7, at Calvary Hill Full Gospel Church with Pastor Joannie Jackson officiating.

Interment followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park with full military honors.
