The Llano News : : Deer Capital of Texas

Everybody likes to look their best, whether it’s for work, a special occasion, a special someone, or every day. Sometimes, it’s hard to stay looking good and now-a-days with gas prices, it’s not always affordable.

That’s why Tina Morgan opened her new business, Cowboy Cleaners, at 2506 S. Hwy. 16.

Coming from Los Angeles, Calif., Morgan moved, with her two kids, to Llano in 1982. She worked for Jim Jones, who had a dry cleaners across from the old Winn’s store. She worked for him for about a year, then worked for other places.

In 1991, Morgan started to work for Bill Boatright at AAA Cleaners but was not happy and could not make enough to support herself and her kids.

“I always wanted to build a cleaners,” said Morgan. “I got a great opportunity and said to myself, I’m going to build my own.”

Morgan seized the opportunity when Herman Honig, her cousin-in-law, suggested he would build the business building and Morgan could rent it from his mother, who owned the property.

“My husband, my brother-in-law, John Little, and Herman bought the building and put it up,” said Morgan. “It was a family affair and it just worked out great.”

Morgan is still wanting to dress up the building a little more. She plans to put a hitching post outside and an awning. The business already has a huge parking area.

The parking is big enough for trailers, some of the guys will bring their horse trailers and turn around without having to get stuck, added Morgan.

Morgan’s Cowboy Cleaners is not affillated with the Cowboy Cleaners in San Antonio, in fact she didn’t even know there was one until a gentleman came in and asked if she had anything to do with the chain.

“The name just fits me and my family,” said Morgan. “There are a lot of cowboys here, my husband’s a cowboy, and when I worked with two guys at Buttery’s I asked them what I should name the business and one said ‘Cowboy Cleaners,’ and I said ‘perfect!’”

Morgan has dreamed of having her own cleaners business for five years and is confident that her business will flourish.

“Llano can support two cleaners,” said Morgan. “At least people will have a choice because a lot of people are going to Marble Falls. With gas prices going up, people can come here and keep close to Llano.”

Cowboy Cleaners will offer services like washing, starching, and pressing jeans and shirts, the way the customer wants it. Morgan will press anything that needs it. She will wash, dry and fold regular laundry by the pound. Morgan also offers alterations and soon will offer dry cleaning.

“I like people to look nice,” said Morgan. “If I see wrinkles in your clothes I want to iron them for you.”

Morgan tries to do her best and gurantees her work. If there are any problems, the customer just needs to come back and talk to her. If something gets ruined, she’ll replace it.

I’m just trying to make it easier for people to look good, if they can’t do their laundry, bring it to me and I’ll wash if for them, added Morgan.

Morgan’s prices are resonable compared to other cleaners. The prices are fair for the quality of work and the customer really gets what they pay for.

I take pride in my work and I treat the clothes as if they were my own, said Morgan.

The customer will get their clothes back in a timely manner, as well. If a customer brings in their clothes they can get them back within two days. They can get their clothes back the next day or even the same day, if needed.

Cowboy Cleaners opened April 21 and with Morgan’s friendly attitude and great personality, her business seems to be doing great.

“I think I’m doing well and I’ll be doing better and better,” said Morgan. “I love it here, I love doing these clothes. People ask me how can you stand ironing all day? I tell them, I’m not ironing, I’m making people look nice and I love it. I want people to look at my cutomers and say, ‘Hey, you look real good, who does your clothes?’”

Cowboy Cleaners is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or Saturday by appointment by calling (325) 247-5250.
