Llano County Judge, Wayne Brascom, signed a proclamation declaring April 27 through May 4, as Soil Stewardship Week.
Stewardship Week is one of the largest national annual programs to promote conservation. The theme for this year was “Water is Life.”
This proclamation stressed and stated that “our security depends upon healthy soil and clean water, and stewardship calls for each person to help conserve these precious resources.”
The Llano County SWCD encourages everyone to think about their personal responsibility to be a good steward of the natural resources, including water. Everyone relies on water and other natural resources; people need to become aware of water quality, quantity, and how much these resources need to exist.
The Llano County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a member of the National Association of Conservation Districts, which oversees the Stewardship Week.
