The Llano Junior Women’s Culture Club held its last meeting of the year at Celia Griffin’s nursery, “Growing Crazy.”

Mrs. Griffin presented a program to club members on how she started her nursery business and gave information on annuals and perennials, what plants grow best in the Hill Country, and what plants survive in the shade, in the sun, or in partial sun/shade.

While at the nursery, Club President Kathy Hussey named Itsy Hussey as the club’s “Woman of the Year” for all of her hard work and dedication to the club’s activities throughout the year. Itsy was presented with a beautiful custom-painted planter holding a variety of plants.

After the program, club members met at the club house and enjoyed refreshments prepared by Margaret Franklin and Lori Gray, members of the club’s social committee.

After a brief business meeting, new club members took part in the club’s induction ceremony. These new members are Joey Carney, Renee Bollier, Carla Rubb, Kelli Tudyk, Traci Neff, and Caroline Gipp.

New officers for the 2008-2009 club year were also installed. Club members serving as officers are the following: Kathy Hussey, President; Letitia McCasland, First Vice President, Program Chairwoman; Shelly Humphries, Second Vice President, Social Chairperson; Wendy Ashley, Social Committee Co-Chair; Eugenia Cooper, Third Vice President, Finance Chairwoman; K.D.
