Annie Lee Bucklew, 89, of Kingsland, passed away May 8. She was born to William Neal and Ada Lee (Nichols) Matthews on Oct. 5, 1918, in Shelby County.

Mrs. Bucklew is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Bucklew; her grandson, Dale Wilson Jordan; her sisters, Irene Buckner and Mary Hamock; and her brother, Thomas Matthews.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley B. Jordan and husband, Donald Lee, of Highland Haven; her grandson, Douglas Earl Jordan and wife, Marybeth, of Pittstown, N.J. and his children, Jeffery, Matthew, and Ashley; her granddaughters, Sherylann Jordan and fiancé, Scott Pierce, of Kingsland, Jo Kuntz, of Kingsland; her sisters, Billie Miley, Gracie Reynolds, numerous nieces and beloved companion, Sweetpea.

Mrs. Bucklew had a passion for gardening throughout her life. During World War II, she worked as a fitter and later became a secretary. She retired as a bookkeeper from United Gas. She was an active bowler in Beaumont and in Kingsland and belonged to several bowling leagues. She was a member of the Highland Lakes United Methodist Church and the Hill Country Singles.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12 at the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Conaway. Interment will be 10 a.m. Tuesday May 13, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
