The Llano Uplift Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently celebrated its 12th birthday with a business meeting and luncheon at the River City Grille in Marble Falls.

New officers were installed, a new member was inducted, and Mary Stevens was honored on her birthday. Mary, who is almost 100 years old, received her Certificate for Twenty Five Years with DAR.

New member, Lana Sullenger, who is the mother of member Laura Lancaster, was inducted. The program, a video “Today’s DAR,” was presented by Lynn Young, the Texas State Regent of DAR. The video describes many aspects of the organization and its mission.

New officers were installed as follows: Carole Buchanan, regent; Sue Ashby, vice regent; Susan Smith, chaplain; Carolyn Lee, secretary; Sue Doughtie, treasurer; Vallie Terrell, registrar; Mary Berlin, historian; and Linda Cole, librarian.

Guests included: Lynn Young, Texas State regent; Dr. James Heath, vice president general, General Society of War of 1812, and past state president, Texas Society, Sons of the American Revolution; Clyde Smith, past president, Bluebonnet Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution; Cara Shiu, daughter of Muma Miller; and prospective members Beverly Gillespie, Sandra Johnson, and Barbara Miner.
