Beginning about 4 a.m., two young bakers are hard at work in the kitchen of M&M Donuts in Kingsland and by 6 o’clock breakfast is served at 1335 RR 1431.

The shop is the newest member of the Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce, recognized Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

M&M in Kingsland is operated by Nary Tan, 25, and Terry Wu, 24, of Marble Falls. It opened Oct. 17, following in the footsteps of the M&M Donuts in owned by Tan’s parents, Michael and Marsha Tan in Llano.

Before turning their hands to a family business, Wu graduated from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and Tan studied biology at The University of Texas in Arlington. Now, they cheerfully greet the morning crowd inside the shop and filing through the drive-up window.

In addition to at least a dozen varieties of donuts, including old-fashion cake donuts, they serve up apple fritters, cinnamon rolls and twists. For a heartier breakfast, customers can choose from breakfast sandwiches in croissants or biscuits or meat or cheese filled kolaches.

“We are so happy to have this enthusiastic young face in the Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber membership,” said Chamber President Lynda Shroyer.

Charlene Cummins and Gay Gambert joined her in welcoming the latest addition.
